Patrick D. Schefsky is a member of PDKST and is the head of Civil Litigation and Family Law. The son of an attorney, Patrick decided at an early age to follow the same path and attend law school. A cum laude graduate of both Albion College and Michigan State University College of Law, Patrick returned to his hometown to practice with Currie Kendall PLC as an associate attorney. Joining PDKST in 2014 as an associate, Patrick became a member of the firm in 2016.
Patrick is a practical, efficient advocate who provides compassionate and knowledgeable counsel to help clients navigate the difficult twists and turns of litigation. In family law, Patrick takes a client-directed approach, working with the special circumstances of each case to arrive at a beneficial outcome that is in the best interest of each client. When children are involved, Patrick focuses on the best interests of the children, helping to keep the client focused on them in the midst of what is certainly an emotional time. Family issues are rarely simple, and Patrick’s vast experience can help clients know what to expect, helping them prepare and plan for their new lives.
As an experienced civil litigator, Patrick has practiced in state courts throughout the State of Michigan, and in both the Eastern and Western Federal District Courts for the State of Michigan and at the Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. Patrick is a general civil practitioner, and takes cases of many different subject matters. Patrick is adept at taking complicated legal concepts and streamlining them into a form the client understands so they are able to make substantive decisions on how the litigation proceeds. Patrick has represented large corporations, hospitals, banks, family businesses, non-profits, municipalities, contractors, and many other entities and individuals both as plaintiffs and as defendants. Whether working towards a beneficial settlement or going to trial, Patrick is always a confident, zealous advocate who strives for open client communication and efficiency.
A resident of Midland, Patrick enjoys playing soccer, golf, and whatever his kids decide they want to do that day. Patrick is an occasional actor on stage, a skill which translates well to the courtroom.
