Robert C. Corbett practices primarily in the fields of patents, trademarks, and copyright. A native of Ann Arbor, Robert graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in mechanical engineering. Prior to attending law school, Robert worked as an engineer in the automotive industry, where he was responsible for various vehicle door systems from prototype phase to production on the assembly line. Robert graduated from the Indiana University-Bloomington School of Law, and now has 20 years of experience in intellectual property law.
Robert has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications for entities ranging from large corporations to entrepreneurs. He has successfully obtained patents for clients in technologies that include hybrid-electric powertrain systems, electric vehicles, vehicle interior systems, vehicle safety systems, robotics, outdoor recreational products, and construction tools. Robert also has substantial experience advising clients regarding trademarks, including obtaining trademark registrations with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Robert’s focus is on quality. He works with clients to understand their goals, and then uses an analytical approach to create a strategy for protecting their intellectual property and obtaining commercial value for them.
Robert lives in Gladwin with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys riding the Pere Marquette trail on his bike and playing his guitar. His community involvement includes the Affordable Housing Alliance, the St. Brigid PTO, and the Christ the King Lutheran Church Council.
